When it comes to getting yourself out on the audition scene, there a number of opportunities at your disposal. While finding representation is key, a great way to build your resume up until then is when you self-submit. With the wonder of the world wide web, Hollywood has opened the digital door. While getting the perfect self-tape is a crucial step, knowing where is also essential in how to self-submit yourself. Read our guide for the sites to know and further your chances for success!

Actors Access is a necessity for all actors. Free to join, you are able to show off your résumé, upload and edit (2) headshots, view breakdowns released to Actors Access, and receive Role Match Alerts.  The service is operated under Breakdown Services, which is what talent representatives use to submit talent for roles. The roles that are released to Actors Access vary and are decided upon by casting. While it is free to sign up, in order to self-submit, actors can either pay $5 per submission or sign up for Actors Access Plus. An Actors Access PLUS membership is only $68 per year and allows you to download sides from up to 24 projects per day at no extra cost. It also includes unlimited submissions to Actors Access Breakdowns and unlimited Eco Cast transmissions!

Cast It is a website created exclusively for casting directors. It allows casting directors to share auditions, demo reels, lists and photos directly with directors, producers, and studio executives. They can also send out breakdowns, accept submissions, host open calls, schedule their sessions and search for actors. It’s highly secure, very easy to understand, and is used by the vast majority of Hollywood casting offices. Cast It Talent is open to both Union and Non-Union actors, as well as Represented and Unrepresented talent. Actors can sign up for a free profile so that their information is added to the casting database. You are also able to sign up for a PRO membership which includes:

  1. Upload, host, and share up to 10GB of videos, headshots, and resumes
  2. Submitting to all of the roles in your Roles Tab for FREE
  3. Send in your videos for Feedback – 1 free per month for Pro Members, Basic members $10 per submission

LA Casting through the Casting Network is a website used by casting directors for primarily commercial projects. Talent representatives are able to submit talent to the 100’s of casting calls posted to the casting database. With a membership, actors have the opportunity to self-submit for a portion of the same roles. Once registered you can create your profile, upload your headshots, reels, and resume, find representation and be submitted for more roles than anywhere else in the world. Casting Network offers two types of memberships, Basic ($18.95 p/mo.) and Premium Unlimited ($23.95 p/mo.). Both packages vary in features but signing-up provides an excellent opportunity to self-submit for union and non-union commercial work as well as an occasional feature film and tv postings.

Backstage has been trusted in casting since 1960. On Backstage actors can browse through hundreds of blogs with helpfully industry advice, see and submit for casting notices and view a database of talent representatives. While Backstage offers a great amount of free content, in order to submit for roles on the website, a yearly fee of $149.95 a month. Backstage also offers discounts throughout the year with memberships sometimes being offered for as low as $9.99 p/mo. (billed annually).

Casting Frontier posts dozens of open acting roles every day for actors and performers. When signed up for the site, Actors and performers can apply to open acting jobs & auditions for casting in films, TV shows, commercials, digital content print and more! Casting Frontier provides three types of memberships to get started on their site, Basic (Free), Premium ($14.99), Premium Plus ($19.99).
